Liverpool are set to sign Slovak international centre back Martin Skrtel for 6.5 million.
The Liverpool Echo is reporting that the Zenit St Petersburg star arrived on Merseyside for a medical and to complete a deal over the next couple of days.
Skrtel is rated as a major emerging talent in European football and Liverpool have had to fend off some of the continent's top clubs to seal the deal.
Meanwhile there is more speculation of a move for Momo Sissoko. Claudio Ranieri, manager of Juventus has talked again of signing him, saying he is a great player. Ranieri has guided Juventus to third in Serie A but is anxious to consolidate with further reinforcements. Inter Milan were also interested, but have now turned their attentions elsewhere.
If I was Rafa I'd be keeping Momo Sissoko to the end of the season, given they are looking more and more unlikely to be buying Mascherano.
